FYP Code of Conduct
Preamble
This Code of Conduct embodies our radical vision of youth empowerment through authentic self-expression and collective care. As a youth-led movement, we recognize that our power lies in supporting each individual's journey to flourishing while building collective strength. These guidelines create a space where every youth can discover their power, honor their truth, and support others' growth.
How This Code Works
- Must Standards: Clear rules that protect our community. Violations require immediate attention.
- Growth Practices: Guidelines for personal development, recognizing each person's unique path.
- Support Resources: Tools and community support for learning and growth.
- Accountability Process: Focus on learning, repair, and community healing.
Core Standards & Practices
1. Honor Self-Love & Well-being
Because our individual flourishing powers collective change
Must Standards
When you encounter someone's self-care practice:
- Respect it without judgment, even if different from yours
- Never mock, shame, or criticize their well-being choices
- Honor their time-off requests and rest needs immediately
Violations include:
- Pressuring others to ignore their needs
- Shaming different cultural practices of care
- Questioning or debating stated needs for rest
Growth Practices Start where you are:
- Define self-love in your own terms
- Practice one small act of self-care daily
- Honor your cultural healing traditions
Common challenges:
- Feeling guilty about prioritizing yourself
- Pressure to follow others' self-care routines
- Cultural conflicts about self-care
Support available:
- Peer support check-ins
- Cultural healing circles
- Well-being resources
Cultural Note: Self-love looks different across cultures and individuals. Trust your inner wisdom about what nurtures you. Western concepts of self-care are just one of many valid approaches.

2. Protect Personal Boundaries
Because honoring boundaries builds collective trust

- Get explicit consent before sharing personal information
- Respect "no" in all its forms (verbal, written, signaled)
Violations include:
- Sharing private information without permission
- Ignoring stated boundaries
- Demanding explanations for boundaries
Growth Practices Start where you are:
- Notice your comfort zones
- Practice saying "no" in small ways
- Express boundaries in your authentic style
Common challenges:
- Cultural pressure to always say "yes"
- Fear of losing connections
- Digital boundary confusion
Support available:
- Boundary setting workshops
- Cultural navigation support
- Digital safety guides
Cultural Note: Boundaries may be expressed through words, silence, distance, or community practices. All forms deserve equal respect when understood.

3. Practice Compassionate Communication
Because understanding bridges divides
Must Standards In all community spaces:
- No hate speech, harassment, or discrimination
- Address impact when harm occurs
- Respect communication style differences
Violations include:
- Intentionally hostile communication
- Refusing to acknowledge impact
- Mocking different communication styles
Growth Practices Start where you are:
- Express needs clearly in your way
- Listen to understand, not to respond
- Practice conflict transformation
Digital spaces:
- Take space to respond thoughtfully
- Ask for clarity when needed
- Remember the human behind the screen
Cultural Note: Whether direct or indirect, emotional or reserved, all respectful communication styles are valid. Focus on understanding rather than judging.
